cultivating community wellness with a multidisciplinary approach to health
WHO WE ARE
Nourish Wellness is a multidisciplinary pediatric wellness center for children and their families. We are a collaboration between the Nourish Foundation, Auburn University's departments of Hunger Solutions, Social Work, Nursing, Pharmacy, Dietetics, and Kinesiology, Via Edward College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM) and East Alabama Health (EAH). Our service includes a nutrition, physical activity and mindfulness curriculum for each patient and family as well as the opportunity to participate in a monthly community gathering which will include a meal demonstration, live exercise class, and small groups to share and build relationships with other families in the community. In addition, we will provide fresh produce to food insecure families on a weekly basis through Nourish, AL, an initiative of the Nourish Foundation.
In 2016, Dr. Katie Wolter and Beth Hornsby of Hornsby Farms joined together to form Nourish, AL to deliver fresh produce on a weekly basis to food insecure families in the Auburn/Opelika community. In 2018, the Nourish Foundation, which is a 501(c)(3) organization, was formed with Nourish, AL being its first initiative.
It was always Dr. Wolter's dream to integrate healthy lifestyle habits, including healthy eating, with pediatric medical care and it was out of this desire that Nourish Wellness was created. In an effort to deliver multidisciplinary, holistic care, with an emphasis on nutrition, physical activity and mindfulness, Nourish Wellness was launched.
Nourish Blooms was founded by Katie Wolter to combine her love of flower farming and passion to provide food insecure families in her community with fresh, local produce. The proceeds of Nourish Blooms support families financially to receive care through the wellness clinic. To go to the Nourish Blooms Website click here.
